The Weather Outside is Weather

I finally realized why I’m addicted to tumblr.

Unlike the rest of my social media outlets, those I follow on tumblr are predominately people I haven’t met in real life. When someone says something on here that pisses me off, I can simply unfollow them consequence free. Conversely, I can say pretty much whatever the hell I want here, especially things going on in my personal life, without causing any drama.

On the other hand, my Facebook and Twitter feeds seem to emphasize stories from people who I’m pissed off at, and for the time being, would just rather ignore. Unfriending, ignoring, or unfollowing could all potentially lead to more drama, so for the most part these days, I just chose to not pay attention to my news feeds.

Sure, I still post on these media outlets regularly, but I do a whole lot more talking than I do listening. Furthermore, all my posts are usually jokes or small mindless tidbits about my life. Facebook and Twitter are not acceptable places to passive-aggressively gripe about personal problems, but sometimes, I feel like I need a place for that.

That’s where tumblr comes in. I’m not afraid to vent here anymore. There’s only a handfull of my followers that know me in real life, and a lot of these people are close friends who I sometimes vent to anyway. None of my IRL followers have ever gotten on my bad side. I wish I could say the same for Facebook and Twitter.
